Description:The Safety Manager reports to the Plant Manager. At Bama, the Safety Manager is expected to
understand, engage and lead safety processes allowing Bama to create a safe work environment while controlling direct costs, meeting customer expectations, and ensuring safe work practices.

We are seeking a person who possess and demonstrate characteristics that include a mindset of ownership and accountability, basic safety competencies, an intrinsic drive/need to help develop people, and process oriented in utilizing leading indicator data to develop corrective action plans.

The Safety Manager is responsible for proactively building effective relationships that result in engaged work teams that are continuously improving their safety environment, as well as the ability to identify exposures and hazards related to the environment of safety, work practices and production processes. Additionally, this role leads the Corporate Safety Team ensuring a unified approach to the creation and delivery of Bama’s safety system at all facilities.

Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Safety Manager will provide support to the facility and operating crews in a way that monitors and contributes to a union-free environment where people feel wildly important.
Duties:• Understands Bama Manual and employs philosophies in all activities
• Working knowledge of all federal and state safety requirements, OSHA guidelines, etc.
• Demonstrates the importance of safety through modeling and coaching emotional quotient (EQ) principles
• Supervise plant security team to meet both human and food safety needs
• Manage and allocate resources to lead and support the safety systems
• Understands team member safety needs.
• Facilitates employee training initiatives for regulatory compliance and development of safety knowledge.
• Knowledge of customer requirements and product expectations and its impact on cost control and measurements.
• Supports and recommends developmental activity that enhances employee empowerment in safety decision-making
• Utilizes Six Sigma Problem Solving tools in decision making
• Develops and maintains safety measurements including, total incident rate (TIR), pareto charts, etc. and provides a recommended plan of action, coordinates the Facility Management Team and the Corporate Safety Team to address key priority safety issues in the facility.
• Effective coordination and execution of safety concerns as they impact the production line. Full participation in safety related issues and assessments during pre-test meetings, planning, preparation and running on the line.
• Manages safety expense budget and safety related capital improvement projects.
• Strategic planning in the development and implementation of change initiatives.
• Courage to respectfully challenge established approaches and possesses the attitude of doing more than what is expected
• Possesses hands-on work ethic supported by developed interpersonal and coaching skills
• Maintains a consistent visible presence in the plant and with Bama team members
• Ability to provide leadership and coaching to workers, supervisors and managers around the clock for adequate coverage of safety needs for a 24/7 operation
Qualifications:Qualifications:

• Safety experience in a non-union environment
• A Bachelors of Science in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene Management and two years of related safety, health or industrial hygiene experience or
• Five years of direct safety, health, or industrial hygiene related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters of Science in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene and two years of related safety, health or industrial health experience.
• Six sigma certification to a Green Belt level
